POSTED 05.11.15 - HERITAGE
At Turnbull & Asser, we’re definitely dog people. Whether they’re household pets or prize-winning pedigrees, every humble hound has a special place in our hearts. So, when we came across a 1931 advert in our archive that allowed customers to put their very own dogs on a pocket square, we were inspired to revive the idea.
There are three bespoke styles to choose from: Doggy Warhol (one colourway available), Renaissance Dog (four colourways available) and Polka Dog (four colourways available). The pocket squares are made from 100% silk and printed in Macclesfield, England.
The bespoke pocket squares are available to order exclusively instore where you can choose from three different designs. Once ordered and paid for instore, all you need to do is send your image to our Man’s Best Friend team, who will process your order.
“ YOUR PURCHASE WILL ALSO HELP LOOK AFTER REAL-LIFE PUPS AS A 10% OF THE PROFIT OF ALL SALES FROM THE UK WILL BE GIVEN TO THE RENOWNED CHARITY.”
This season, we’ve joined forces with Dogs Trust in our quest to bring your pet’s portraits to life. Your purchase will also help look after real-life pups as a 10% of the profit of all sales from the UK will be given to the renowned charity.
Ordering your bespoke dog pocket square couldn’t be simpler; you can do it instore in three easy steps:

1. Pop into our London Jermyn Street, Bury Street, Davies Street or New York Townhouse locations and ask for our dog pocket square expert.

2. Fill out a short form with your choice of design and email address before paying over the till.

3. Lastly, our expert will ask you to email a photograph to our Man's Best Friend team.

Our team of dog lovers will send you a confirmation email to let you know that your order has been received and we’re processing your photograph. If there are any issues, we will contact you.

If you can’t get to one of our stores, you can order over the phone on:

Bottlenose dolphins windfarm threat.

Drew Sutton , Nice Director, has been back out on the Scottish waters with  Philip Hoare  as they addressed the issue of the newly approved windfarm plans in the Moray Firth. Photo by Drew Sutton These waters are home to an array of wildlife, including the "UK's only resident population of bottlenose dolphins" and these 227 proposed turbines will disrupt their way of life since they depend on sonar. Have a read of Philip's article and if you can, pop along to Aquatopia: The imaginary of the ocean deep which opened this weekend at the Nottingham Contemporary and will continue at Tate St Ives in October.   http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/jul/17/sea-invisible-trash-heap-aquatopia Let us know what you think or even better, get involved with the WDC and exhibitions such as Aquatopia! http://www.nottinghamcontemporary.org/art/aquatopia

Nana’s Manners, Confident Kids- Kickstart starts 21st June

Nana’s Manners believe in giving children the tools they need to learn to do the basics well. We want to empower kids to become confident and independent in the world around them. Nana’s Manners is the inspiration of Kathryn, a mum of two who taught in Primary Schools for ten years. It was whilst teaching in a Reception class that she realised the widespread difficultly 4-5 year olds had in using a knife and fork effectively and independently. As the cutlery kids need to help them learn this life skill didn’t exist, Kathryn decided she was going to design it herself. Nana’s Manners is launching their patented, ergonomically designed cutlery on Kickstarter on the 21st June.  They need to reach their target amount in pledges in 30 days to fund their first production run and bring Nana’s Manners to life. Please visit their website to find out more and support them in getting their cutlery out and into little hands. http://www.nanasmanners.com
